Overview
Horizon United Group played a key role in the Albury to Parkes section which involves extensive enhancements to specific sites across the 355 kilometres of existing track running from Albury to Illabo and Stockinbingal to Parkessection of the Inland Rail project, working as a subcontractor for Martinus Rail.
Scope of works
Horizon United Group focused on essential rail upgrade works to enhance the existing rail corridor, which spans approximately 185 km from the Victoria-NSW border to Illabo in regional New South Wales.
Horizon United Group’s involvement includes critical upgrades to the rail tracks, ensuring they could accommodate doublestacked freight trains by meeting the required height and width specifications. These upgrades are a vital part of the broader enhancements to the infrastructure, which also included footbridges, road bridges, overhead structures, signal systems, and level crossings.
As part of the detailed design, early works, and construction phase, Horizon United Group contributed to the smooth progression of the project, ensuring that the necessary rail modifications were completed to allow for the safe and efficient running of freight trains. This work supports the larger goal of enhancing the Inland Rail network and improving freight connectivity between major regional centres in New South Wales.
