Overview
Horizon United Group played a pivotal role in the Rye Park Wind Farm project by delivering critical public road upgrades and civil area development works for Zenviron, the contractor responsible for the civil and electrical balance of plant works.
Scope of works
Located 11 kilometres north-east of Yass, the Rye Park Wind Farm will become the largest wind farm in New South Wales, with 66 turbines generating a maximum capacity of 396MW.
This renewable energy project will power approximately 215,000 homes and reduce carbon emissions by around 960,000 tonnes annually. Horizon United Group’s work involved upgrading 14-kilometres of public roads and enhancing civil infrastructure to ensure access for heavy machinery and materials to the challenging site, spanning the Hilltops, Upper Lachlan, and Yass Valley areas. Given the rugged terrain, their efforts were essential in constructing access tracks, crane hardstands, and crane assist pads across difficult ridgelines.
With more than 1 million cubic metres of cut and fill bulk earthwork, Horizon United Group’s expertise was critical in supporting the successful delivery of the project. We established a local office, which was created for the 45 local jobs, including multiple local contractor engagements which provided significant economic benefits to the local community
