NSW Bushfire Cleanup Begins

Maliyan Horizon is proud to partner in joint venture with construction contractor BMD to deliver vital bushfire recovery work in regional New South Wales.

Employing a philosophy of supporting the communities in which we operate, Maliyan Horizon and BMD are focused on working with local communities to drive positive outcomes through the creation of opportunities for local workers, businesses and residents.

More than 115 personnel are working on the joint venture’s bushfire recovery projects; the influx of people in the Tumbarumba and Bega regions seeing motels reopening, creating positive flow-on effects to local businesses including cafes, supermarkets and retail stores.

Emma Muller, Maliyan Horizon Managing Director, said the works have already resulted in an injection of income into the local economy.

“Besides committing to purchasing project materials locally, our Maliyan BMD Joint Venture prioritises the engagement and employment of local businesses and residents respectively.

Tim McMahon, BMD Region Manager, said the organisation was proud to work in joint venture with a local Aboriginal company that upholds the same community minded values as BMD.

The Maliyan Horizon BMD Joint Venture is working with client, Laing O’Rourke who has been appointed as coordinator of the New South Wales bushfire clean-up program by the NSW Government.
